What is Island Spaniels all about?
Island Spaniels really started 22 years ago in Slovakia, with our very first Yorkshire Terrier Gracie. Gracie was such a joy to have around, she had an amazing temperament that made her not only a great family dog but also a great wachdog! We were all amzaed by this little girl, there was so much personality in her and she was so bright too. Out of Gracie's first litter, we kept one especially stunning boy Dodo. He was a classic example of the breed standard, and the first dog that we decided to show. Dodo did extremley well in the show ring and was our first stud dog. Over the years, we continued breeding Yokshire Terriers, paying secial attention to each dog's pedigree, health and temperament in order to produce puppies with excellent pedigrees and classic temperaments that would make not only be beautiful showdogs but also wonderful family pets. Even though we have been breeding Yorkies for over 20 years now, we contine to stick to our tradition, all of our puppies come from select European bloodlines thave have at least ten Champions in their four generation pedigree. During all those years, we have also gone through many different breeds of dogs, from Grayhounds to Pomeranians, but not untill Bamboo came into our home, did we find another breed that our whole family fell in love with. In Bamboo, we found a smart, loyal and loving companion. She melted all of our hearts and made us fall in love with the English Springer Spaniel.
Why should i get a puppy from you and not somwhere else?
When it comes to Yorkies, puppies like those offered by Island Spaniels are very hard to find, again all of our Yorkie babies come from select European bloodlines and have at least 10 champions in the last four generations (and thats alot of Champions!) Even if you are not interested in having a show dog, this still gives you a pretty good idea of the genetic quality of the puppies. Also, we are not a kennel! Our dogs are literally part of our family, they live with us inside our home, sit with us on the couch during movie night, go with us on family trips and give us hugs and kisses every day when we come home from work. All of the puppies that we sell are well socialized and handled on a daily basis, again, the puppies live with us in our home. The pups get exposed to everything, from dogs to children, they are well cared for and given so much love. With each puppy we strive to ensure a perfect, well balanced, lovable family pet. I cannot stress the importantce of buying a well socialized puppy, I speak from experience , puppies that are not well socialized, usually those brought from kennels or large scale breeders are temperamentally nothing like puppes that recive lots of love and attention from the day they come into the world.
Do you ship puppies?
Yes, we can ship puppies around the United States, but we prefer if the buyer can come and pick the puppy up. After all, it can be very stresfull for the puppies, especially the tiny Yorkie puppies, to have to go through the entire travelling ordeal. If shipping is a must, we usually ship through Delta Cargo either from Newark or JFK airport. It is the buyers responsibility to pay for the shipping crate, the necessary veterinary certficate for shipping and the actual shipping charges.
What do the puppies come with?
This actually depends on the age of the puppy. All puppies come dewormed, with all current vaccinations and a health guarantee. If the puppies are over four months of age, they usually also come with their rabbies vaccine and microchips.
Can you hold me a puppy?
Yes, we can hold puppies for a deposit of $100. In general, we accept deposits for Yorkie and Springer puppies as soon as they are born and up untill 4 days of age the buyer has the option of chosing whether the puppy has the tail docked and he dew claws removed.
